Is myhealth for me?

myhealth is available to eligible public service workers, contractual workers and retirees, including qualifying employees, contractual workers and retirees or pensioners.

Eligible spouses and children may also be added, subject to the applicable requirements.

You may be eligible if you:

  • Work full-time for the Government of The Bahamas, at least 30 hours per week.
  • Are actively at work.
  • Are not currently covered under, or entitled to apply under, another government-sponsored medical plan.

You may be eligible if you are employed by the Government of The Bahamas on a fixed-term contract that has been in effect for at least three months, and you meet the programme’s other eligibility requirements.

Eligible pensioners and retirees may join myhealth at the applicable retiree rates. You must be domiciled in The Bahamas.
Retirees who have been rehired in the public service contribute at the relevant retiree rate.

Getting started is easy

    Complete your enrolment form online

    Fill out the simple online enrolment form with your details to get started. If you need assistance, visit an in-person myhealth helpdesk or contact us by telephone or WhatsApp. See the Contact page for details.

    Authorize payroll deduction

    As part of your digital enrolment, authorize the deduction of your selected myhealth plan from your salary.

  3. 3

    Review and submit your enrolment

    Check that your personal details, selected plan and payroll deduction authorization are correct, then submit your enrolment.

  4. 4

    Complete your final authorizations

    Once you have completed your enrolment and payroll authorization, your file is sent digitally to the plan administrators for review and completion. They will email you a secure link to complete the final authorizations.

  5. 5

    You're covered! Get your digital myhealth card

    Once enrolment is complete, download your digital myhealth card and you're covered.

myhealth provides major medical coverage for hospitalization, surgery, emergency care, and specialist visits. It also includes free preventive care up to annual plan limits.
The Government of The Bahamas created and administers myhealth. Your HR department confirms eligibility and manages your enrolment.
myhealth is government-subsidized, so premiums stay low. It works with NHI and the National Drug Plan for coordinated care.
Full-time public officers, contract employees, pensioners, retirees, and their dependents may qualify. HR makes the final call.
During Open Enrolment, pre-existing conditions are covered with no medical exam required. After October 31, 2026, underwriting may apply.
